Li Ann Butterfield is a dedicated and accomplished attorney at Friedlander Misler, practicing in the firm’s Real Estate and Commercial Transactions groups. She applies her wealth of experience to a broad spectrum of legal matters for parties involved in commercial real estate transactions in the D.C. area and across the country.

Li Ann’s practice includes representing lenders in loan drafting and modifications, including acquisition and construction loans, for a variety of property types, such as multifamily dwellings, storage units, and commercial retail buildings. She also provides guidance on commercial lease agreements, including new leases and lease amendments, for retail stores, industrial warehouse spaces, and other property types throughout the U.S. Additionally, Li Ann has experience with commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, including land sales.

In connection to her work with real estate transactions, Li Ann has applied her corporate law experience to assist with new entity formation and estate planning matters, such as transfers of interest in limited liability companies for clients.

Before joining the firm, Li Ann practiced law in Stamford, Connecticut, where she represented clients in trusts, estates, corporate formation, and a wide array of residential and commercial real estate transactions. Her prior legal experience also includes serving as a legal intern with the Honorable Melissa C. Jackson and the Honorable Jeffrey Gershuny at the New York City Criminal Court, as well as interning with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in New York. Additionally, Li Ann gained valuable experience through a mediation externship with both the U.S. District Court in Boston and a private mediation group.
