Brian McIlhargie is a senior counsel in the Firm’s Real Estate Litigation and Commercial Litigation groups.
His practice centers on real estate disputes, business litigation, and construction claims, with an added emphasis on proactive risk mitigation and strategic legal advisement. Brian manages complex litigation from inception through appeal, including drafting and arguing motions, overseeing discovery, and handling depositions. In addition to his litigation work, he counsels businesses on minimizing legal exposure, structuring operations to reduce risk, and navigating disputes before they escalate. Brian also advises licensed professionals on liability management, regulatory considerations, and protective strategies designed to safeguard both their practices and personal assets.
Brian takes a client-centered approach to his work, emphasizing strategic problem-solving along with efficient resolution of disputes. He collaborates closely with clients to develop cost-effective, practical, results-driven litigation strategies tailored to their specific needs.
Before joining Friedlander Misler, PLLC, Brian was senior counsel at a boutique Washington, D.C. law firm, representing clients in real estate and commercial litigation. He previously worked as an associate attorney in Washington, D.C. and Silver Spring, Maryland, handling commercial disputes, product liability, personal injury, and insurance coverage.
Brian’s broad litigation background, including first-chair trial and appellate experience, enables him to deliver effective advocacy and practical solutions.
